It’s the third-largest city in Maharashtra & also the winter capital of Maharashtra.  It is the 13th largest city in India by population. It’s one of the fastest-growing metropolitans in India & the Biggest city in Central India. It is a major commercial and political center of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of Nagpur City in 2011 is 2,405,665 (24.05 Lakh) of which the male population is 1,225,405 and the female population is 1,180,260


The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Nagpur for 2011 is 11000 people per sq. km. Nagpur city administers area is 227 sq. km


The average literacy rate of Nagpur City in 2011 was 91.92%. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy was 94.44% and 89.31% respectively. Total literate in Nagpur city was 1,984,123 of which 1,157,272 are males while 1,054,090 are females.


With regards to the Sex Ratio in Nagpur, it stood at 963 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 926 girls per 1000 boys
