Vasai–Virar located 50+ km north of Mumbai is a city in the Konkan division of Maharashtra and is also a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). According to the 2011 census, it is the fifth-largest city in Maharashtra.

As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of Vasai Virar in 2011 is 1,222,390 (12.22 Lakh) of which the male population is 6,48,172 and the female population is 5,74,218


The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Vasai Virarfor 2011 is 3200 people per sq. km. Vasai Virar city administers area is 380 sq. km


The average literacy rate of Vasai Virar City in 2011 was 88.57 %. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy was 91.53 % and 85.22 % respectively. Total literate in Vasai Virar city was 9,52,411 of which 5,22,814 are males while 4,29,597 are females.


With regards to the Sex Ratio in Vasai Virar, it stood at 886 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 911 girls per 1000 boys

Palghar District Population

Palghar District is a district in the Maharashtra in Konkan Division. It was formed on 1 August 2014, when a new Palghar District was carved out of the old Thane district. At the 2011 Census, the talukas now comprising the Palghar district had a population of 2,990,116 (29.9 lakhs).
