Women comprise 52.8% of the population, while men comprise 47.2%. Regarding ethnic identity, 1.2% of the population self-identifies as Indigenous, and 0.4% as Afro-descendant. Urbanization remains significant, with 26.4% of the population residing in San Salvador, making it the most densely populated area in the country.
