Haridwar is a city in the State of Uttarakhand, India. With a population close to 3 Lakhs, it is the second-largest city in Uttrakhand after Dehradun. The city is at approx 50 km south of State Capital Dehradun.

As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of  Haridwar City in 2011 is 225,235 (2.25 Lakhs) of which the male population is 120,201 and the female population is 105,034

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Haridwar for 2011 is 18300 people per sq. km. Haridwar city administers area is 12.3 sq. km

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Haridwar City in 2011 was 84.99 %. If things are looked out at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 88.87 % and 80.55%. respectively. Total literate in Haridwar city was 169,371 of which 94,508 are males while 74,863 are females.

SEX RATIO
