Directorate of Censuses and Demography, the estimated population of Colombia in 2024 is 52,695,952 (52 million)  and As per the UN World Population Prospects, the estimated population of Colombia  in 2026 is 52,902,741 (53 million or 5.3 Crore)

Religion in Colombia

Christianity is the largest religion in Colombia and is followed by 90% of the population. Roman Catholics (70.9%) have the most adherents. Next are Protestants (16.7%), Jehovah’s Witnesses (1.8%), and other Christians.

Other Non-Christian-based faiths population is at 1% and it includes  Baháʼí Faith, Islam, Buddhism, Mormonism, Hinduism, and Indigenous religions.

Some 4.7% of the population is atheist or agnostic, while 3.5% claim to believe in God but do not follow a specific religion and another 2% don’t know or have no answer about religious choices.

Colombia ethnic composition

About 58% of Colombia’s population belongs to the mestizo group (a mix of Europeans and Indigenous people). The European population, largely of Spanish origin, accounts for approximately 20% of the total population. 

People of African and mulatto descent, which is a mix of African and European ancestry, make up almost 14% of the population. They are primarily concentrated in the coastal departments and traditional sugar-growing areas like the Cauca River valley. Black or African Origins are of 4% of the population. The indigenous population is about 4%and others include a small number of people from the Middle East, non-Iberian Europe, and East Asia.
