Ujjain is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is the fifth-largest city in Madhya Pradesh by population. It is a famous Hindu pilgrimage center with the Kumbh Mela held here every 12 years. It’s selected as one of the hundred Indian cities to be developed as a smart city.

As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of Ujjain City in 2011 is 5,15,215 (5.15 Lakhs) of which the male population is 2,64,871 and the female population is 2,50,344


The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Ujjain for 2011 is 3282 people per sq. km. Ujjain city administers area is 157 sq. km


The average literacy rate of Ujjain City in 2011 was 84.43 %. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy was 89.66 % and 78.90 % respectively. Total literate in Ujjain city was 385,193 of which 2,10,075 are males while 1,75,118 are females.
