Tirunelveli District Population
Tirunelveli District is one of the 38 districts of Tamil Nadu state in India. Tirunelveli District was formed in the year 1790 by the East India Company and later came under the direct control of the British Crown Queen Victoria. The name Tirunelveli has been composed of three Tamil words i.e. ‘Thiru – Nel – Veli’ meaning Sacred Paddy Hedge. It is the largest district in terms of area with Tirunelveli as its headquarters.
