Hyderabad City is the capital of the State of Telangana in India. From 1956 to 2014 Hyderabad was the capital of Andhra Pradesh state, but, with the creation of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh in 2014, it was redesignated as the capital of both states. It’s the fourth-most populous city in India and Hyderabad Metropolitan area is the sixth-most populous metropolitan area in India. 

As per the provisional data of the 2011 census, Hyderabad had a population of 6,731,790 (67.31 Lakh) and its estimated population in 2026 is 82 lakh.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR) extends beyond city limits and includes parts of surrounding districts such as Medchal–Malkajgiri, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Medak, Siddipet and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

As per Census 2011, the metropolitan region had a population of 76,74,689 (76.64 lakh). The estimated population of Hyderabad Metropolitan Region in 2026 is around 92 lakh.
