Population of Hyderabad 2021

Hyderabad City is the capital of the State of Telangana in India. From 1956 to 2014 Hyderabad was the capital of Andhra Pradesh state, but, with the creation of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh in 2014, it was redesignated as the capital of both states. It’s the fourth-most populous city in India and Hyderabad Metropolitan area is the sixth-most populous metropolitan area in India.

Hyderabad Population - Census 2011

As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of Hyderabad City in 2011 is 67,31,790 ( 67.31 Lakhs) of which the male population is 34,42,696 and the female population is 32,89,094


The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Hyderabad for 2011 is 10477 people per sq. km. Hyderabad city administers area is 625 sq. km


The average literacy rate of Hyderabad City in 2011 was 83.26%. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy was 87.31% and 79.04% respectively. 


With regards to the Sex Ratio in Hyderabad, it stood at 955 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 922 girls per 1000 boys


In census enumeration, data regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected. There were a total of 7,99,397 children under the age of 0-6 years. Of total 4,16,016 are boys while 3,83,381 are girls. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 922. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 11.88% of the total population of Hyderabad City

Hyderabad Metropolitan Region Population

Hyderabad Metropolitan Region is the metropolitan area covered by Hyderabad City. Hyderabad Urban Allogmeration spread over the districts of Hyderabad District, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Medak, Siddipet, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri. 

As per the provisional data of the 2011 census, Hyderabad Metropolitan Region had a population of 76,74,689 (76.64 Lakhs) out of which the male population was 39,27,029 and the female population was 37,47,660

The literacy rate was 83.26%. Male literacy was 82.90%.  Male Female Sex ratio is 954. Total Numbers of infants in the age category of  0-6 years are 9,12,231. The Child Sex ratio is 923
