Belize boasts a diverse population, with most being of mixed heritage. Mestizos, of Mayan and Spanish descent, form the largest group, residing in the interior. Maya people, including Yucatec, Mopán, and Kekchí Maya, make up a significant portion. Creoles, primarily English-speaking individuals of African and British ancestry, dominate the central coastal regions. Garifuna, descendants of Carib Indians and Africans, live in the south.
European, South Asian, and Chinese immigrants, as well as Mennonite farmers, contribute to the multicultural fabric. Refugees from neighboring countries, particularly Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, also form a substantial part of the population, their descendants constituting a significant portion of the foreign-born community.
