Mysuru, formerly known as Mysore, is a major city in southern Karnataka and is widely known as the cultural capital of the state. It lies at the foothills of the Chamundi Hills, about 145 km southwest of Bengaluru.

The city served as the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore for nearly six centuries and remains an important center for heritage, tourism, education, and administration. It is the third most populated city in Karnataka after Bengaluru and Hubballi-Dharwad.
