Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey, is a city in the Indian State of Kerala. The city is situated 55 km from Kochi, 129.4 km from Thrissur, and 155 km north of Trivandrum.

As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of  Alappuzha City in 2011 is 174,164 (1.74 Lakhs) of which the male population is 83,888 and the female population is 90,276

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Alappuzha for 2011 is 3770 people per sq. km. Alappuzha city administers area is 46.20 sq. km

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Alappuzha City in 2011 was 96.56 %. If things are looked out at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 98.03 % and 95.21%. respectively. Total literate in Alappuzha city was 153,269 of which 74,454 are males while 78,815 are females.

SEX RATIO

It is the smallest district in Kerala & formed as Alleppey District on 17 August 1957.  As per census 2011, Alappuzha district population is 2,127,789 (21.28 Lakhs) of which 1,013,142 are males and 1,114,647 are females.
