Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey, is a prominent coastal city in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located about 55 km from Kochi, nearly 129 km from Thrissur, and around 155 km north of Thiruvananthapuram. The city is well known for its backwaters, houseboat tourism, and coir industry.
As per provisional reports of Census India, Alappuzha city had a population of 174,164 (1.74 lakh) in 2011. Due to steady urban development and tourism-driven growth, the city has continued to expand over the years. Based on recent trends, the population of Alappuzha is estimated to reach around 2.25 lakh by 2026.
