Ajmer is one of the major and oldest cities in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located at the center of Rajasthan and is home to the Ajmer Sharif shrine. As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of  Ajmer City in 2011 is 5,42,321 (5.42 Lakhs) of which the male population is 2,78,545 and the female population is 2,63,776


The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Ajmer for 2011 is 9725 people per sq. km. The Ajmer city administers area is 55.76 sq. km


The average literacy rate of Ajmer City in 2011 was 86.52 %. If things are looked out at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 92.08 % and 80.69 % respectively. The total literate in Ajmer city was 4,16,511 of which 2,26,757 are males while 1,89,754 are females.


With regards to the Sex Ratio in Ajmer, it stood at 947 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of the Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 886 girls per 1000 boys

Ajmer District is a district of the state of Rajasthan in western India.  Ajmer District has an area of 8,481 km² & As per the 2011 census, Ajmer District’s population is 2,583,052 (25.83 Lakhs) of which 13,24,085 are males and 12,58,967 are females. The literacy rate is 69.33% & the Male-Female Sex ratio is 951. The child-sex ratio is 901. The Estimated population of Ajmer District in 2024 is 30 lakh.
