Venezuela, officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is a country on the northern coast of South America. Venezuela administers a number of Caribbean islands and archipelagos, among which are Margarita Island, La Blanquilla, La Tortuga, Los Roques, and Los Monjes.  As per the UN World Population Prospects report,  the estimated population of Venezuela in 2026 is 30,419,164 (30.5 million)

Religion in Venezuela

Christianity is the largest religion in Venezuela and 87% of the population follow Christianity. Among Christians in Venezuela, Catholics have the most adherents followed by 71% of the people. Next comes Protestantism at 17%, and the remaining 0.03% are Mormons.

The Venezuelans without religion are 9% (atheists 2%, agnostic or indifferent 6% and doesn’t know/doesn’t respond 1% ), and almost 3% of the population follow other religions (1% of them are of Santería).

Venezuela Ethnic Composition

Venezuela is home to a diverse ethnic population. It is estimated that most of the population has pardo, or mixed, ethnic ancestry. Approximately 63%  of the population has mixed European and indigenous (Amerindian) ancestry, commonly referred to as mestizo or mulatto-mestizo (African, European, and indigenous). 20% of the Venezuelans can trace their lineage back to Europe, and 10%  have primarily African ancestry. The indigenous population is comparatively small in numbers.

Ethnic minorities in Venezuela consist of groups that descend mainly from African or Indigenous peoples; 2.8% identified themselves as “black” and 0.7% as Afro-descendant, 2.6% claimed to belong to Indigenous peoples, and 1.2% answered “other races”. Among Indigenous people, 58% were Wayúu, 7% Warao, 5% Kariña, 4% Pemón, 3% Piaroa, 3% Jivi, 3% Añu, 3% Cumanágoto, 2% Yukpa, 2% Chaima and 1% Yanomami; the remaining 9% consisted of other Indigenous nations.
