The Villages in Ghaziabad | Ghaziabad District Rural Areas

The brief History of Ghaziabad District

Before looking at Villages in Ghaziabad, let’s understand the formation of Ghaziabad. In the last few decades, Ghaziabad territory has been redefined many times. The Ghaziabad city was founded in 1740 by the vizir, Ghazi-ud-din, who called it Ghaziuddinnagar after himself. After the opening of the railway line, the name of the place was shortened to Ghaziabad. Ghaziabad District also derived its name from the city.

Prior to 14 November 1976, the district Ghaziabad was known as a tehsil under district Meerut. On November 14, 1976, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the UP Government gave Ghaziabad the distinction of the district.

Gautam Budh Nagar in May 1997 and Hapur District on 27th September 2011  was created out of Ghaziabad district. Now Ghaziabad has three tehsils i.e Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Loni, and four development blocks – Rajapur, Muradnagar, Bhojpur & Loni.
