Earlier Agra district comes under the Agra Police Zone and Agra Police Range. The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced the police commissioner system in Agra from 29th Nov 2022.

Now Agra district police is headed by a Commissioner of Police and is assisted by six additional Commissioner of police. Each of the several police circles is headed by a circle officer in the rank of ACP.  Agra District police are divided in circles for City, east, west, crime, traffic & protocol.
