The Nellore police is part of the Andhra Pradesh police & responsible for maintaining Law and Order enforcement in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District & Nellore City. Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district police come under the Guntur police range of Andhra Police. Guntur range is headed by the IGP.
District Police of Nellore is headed by the Superintendent of Police (SP). He is assisted by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP ) & Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).
Nellore District Police has 5 Sub-Divisions i.e Nellore, Nellore Rural, Kavali, Atmakur & Gudur headed by DSP/SDPO. Under these subdivisions, it has 19 Circles each headed by Circle officers. Each Circle has 3-4 Police Stations under it. Nellore District has 60 Law & order Police Stations, 1 Mahila/Women Police Station, 1 Marine Police Station, 2 Traffic Police Stations & 1 CCS Stations.
