List of Counties in United States

A county is an administrative subdivision of a US state or territory.  As of 2023, there are currently 3,143 counties and county-equivalents in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. If the 100 county equivalents in the U.S. territories are included, then the total is 3,243 counties and county equivalents in the United States.

The State of Texas with 258 counties has the maximum number of Counties and Delaware has just 3 counties. Los Angeles is the most populated county in the entire United States. San Bernardino, located to the east of Los Angeles, is the largest county in terms of area.
