Religion in North America 2023

As of 2020, Christianity was by far the largest religion in North America, with an estimated 498 million adherents, nearly 80% of the North America Population. Next comes the unaffiliated population, estimated at around 78 million people or 15% of the North American population.

Jews are the second-largest religion, with 6.2 million adherents, or 1.25% of the population. Next comes Islam, with 5 million adherents, or 0.98% of the population. Buddhism is at 0.91% percentage, estimated 4.5 million adherents. Hinduism is the fifth largest religion with 3.1 million adherents or 0.63% of the population.

As of 2020, Christianity was the largest religion in North America, followed by the Unaffiliated population. Jews are the second largest religion followed by Islam and Buddhists.

Top North American Countries by Christian Population

The United States is the country with the Largest Christian population in North America. It has an estimated  252 million people who adhere to Christianity. With a 118 million Christian population, Mexico is in second place followed by Canada.

Top North American Countries by Unaffiliated Population

Canada with a 24.5% Unaffiliated population is the highest in North America. Bermuda with 19.4% is at the second spot followed by the United States (18.6%).
