As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of Kohima Sadar in 2011 is 116,870 (1.16 Lakhs) of which the male population is 60,551 and the female population is 56,319. The Population of Kohima City is 99,039 of which males and females were 51,626 and 47,413 respectively

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Kohima for 2011 is 5844 people per sq. km. Kohima city administers area is 20 sq. km
LITERACY RATE
The average literacy rate of Kohima in 2011 was 89.90%. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy was 92.20% and 87.50% respectively. Total literate in Kohima city was 92,196 of which 49,172 are males while 43,024 are females.
SEX RATIO

Kohima district is a district of Nagaland state in India. As per census 2011, Kohima District population is 267,988 (44.40 Lakhs) of which 138966 are males and 129022 are females. The literacy rate is 85% & the Male-Female Sex ratio is 928. The child sex ratio is 909.
