Gandhinagar Population

Gandhinagar is the Capital of the State of Gujrat in India. It is located approximately 23 km north of Ahmedabad and is part of the Ahmedabad Metropolitan region. As per provisional reports of Census India, the population of  Gandhinagar City in 2011 was 206,167 (2.06 Lakhs) of which the male population was 1,07,492  and the female population was 98,675.


The initial provisional data released by Census India 2011, shows that the density of Gandhinagar for 2011 is 900 people per sq. km. The Gandhinagar city administers area is 326 sq. km.


The average literacy rate of Gandhinagar in 2011 was 91.01%. If things are looked at gender-wise, male and female literacy was 95.18 % and 86.52 % respectively. The total literate in Gandhinagar city was 169,359 of which 91,791 are males while 77,568 are females.


With regards to the Sex Ratio in Gandhinagar, it stood at 918 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of the Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio was 817 girls per 1000 boys.
