Ahmedabad is the largest city in Gujarat State, India.  As per census 2011, Ahmedabad is the fifth-most populous city in India. Ahmedabad Urban agglomeration or Metropolitan Area is the seventh-most populous UA  in India.

As per the provisional reports of Census India, the population of Ahmedabad City in 2011 is 55,77,940 (55.77 Lakhs) of which the male population is 24,02,523 and the female population is 19,73,870. 

DENSITY

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Ahmedabad for 2011 is 11000 people per sq. km. Ahmedabad city administers area is 505 sq. km

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of Ahmedabad City in 2011 was 88.29%. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy was 92.30% and 83.85% respectively. Total literate in Ahmedabad city was 4,930,341 of which 2,217,528 are males while 1,655,090 are females.

SEX RATIO

With regards to the Sex Ratio in Ahmedabad, it stood at 898 per 1000 males. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per the latest reports of Census 2011 Directorate. In the 2011 census, the child sex ratio is 848 girls per 1000 boys

CHILD POPULATION

Ahmedabad Urban agglomeration or Metropolitan Area is the seventh-most populous UA  in India. Ahmedabad, Gandhi Nagar & Kalol are main cities in Ahmedabad UA. 

As per the provisional data of the 2011 census, the Ahmedabad Metropolitan region or Urban Agglomeration had a population of 63,57,693 (63.57 Lakhs). out of which the male population was 33,48,869 and the female population was 30,08,824.

The literacy rate was 88.16%. Male Female Sex ratio is 899. Total Numbers of infants in the age category of  0-6 years are 7,12,239. The Child Sex ratio is 846
