Bangladesh has the 4th largest diaspora in the world, with 13 million people living or settled outside Bangladesh.  As per the UN report on the International migrant stock, Bangladesh was one of the leading countries of origin of international migrants, with 7,401,763 Bangladeshi persons living abroad.

According to the latest figures from the U.S. Census, Bangladeshi American community stands at roughly 213,372  but informal estimates go up to over half a million. As per the estimates, the Bangladeshi Population in the United States in 2022 is 220,00 or 2.20 lakhs

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that there were 213,372 U.S. residents of Bangladeshi descent living in the United States in 2019. Bangladeshi immigrants have arrived in the United States in large numbers since the early 1970s to become among the fastest-growing ethnic communities since that decade.

Bangladeshi Americans are largely concentrated in metropolitan areas in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Great Lakes regions of the country, in places such as working-class neighborhoods and suburbs. There are smaller concentrations in states such as Texas, California, and Nevada.
